It was October 2005. At a „Levite´s meeting“ near Köln, Germany a personal prophecy was prayed over me: „Gunter, your drumming will shake the strongholds of the enemy and will move the hosts of heaven. This will be in your basement first and later in front of people. For yourself it will be a time of worship and spiritual warfare. Your music will touch hearts. People will be meeting God and be set free and healed.“
I went through times of doubts and uncertainties, not knowing what to do… until it became clearer that I will begin using my gifts to praise Jesus with my music. I started my own studio and began experimenting and recording. There have been strange emotions about what I do here, valleys with dark clouds, but also strong confirmations about the call, technical issues to be overcome, a lot to be learned, and much joy in going on.
Spring 2008 my friend Thomas showed me his Hang that he just received and said: „Take it with you to get familiar with it and then show me how to play it.“ This opened a new dimension for me. I soon applied for a Hang of my own. September 2009 we went to Bern to select my personal one. Elijá was immediatly sure which one we should get and after testing all available Hanghang it turned out that he was right.
What you are holding here is a small selection of all the tracks that I recorded since 2006. Most of it is the fruit of times of prayer and worship in free improvisation. Listening, I myself can hear the joy and the pain, the love and the sorrow, the hope and the fear, excitement and depression, heartcries and shouts of joy, words of psalms, my own thoughts, prayed and sung tongues and for sure joy and fun in making music.
May you be blessed!
